Raid WW2

Raid WW2 is a 4-player co-op game set in world war 2. It was made primarily by ”Lion Game Lion” but with support from Starbreeze. It shares a lot of similarities with Payday 2 and was made in the same engine.

I ended up designing one of the levels for the game: Bunker Busters.

I felt that there was a lack of clear World War 2 set pieces and fantasies in the maps that were created so far. So with Bunker Busters I wanted to some extent fix that. Therefor designing a level that features a bunker guarding a radar station with tank traps surrounding it was a way to fill that missing piece.

In this mission the players need to attack the bunker to free ”Night-Witches”(female pilots). The mission is high-intense action from the start as the players rush to attack the bunker under heavy machine gun fire. To add to the WW2 feeling and create a bigger power fantasy, once they are in the bunker the tables turn and the players has to defend the bunker with access to the machine guns they faced on the way in while they wait for the escape.

Sadly Raid WW2 did not sell that well and ended up not having a lot of players. Therefor there is limited amount of data when it comes to the players opinion on Bunker Busters itself, but in house it was deemed a good level that delivered on what it set it to do and create a strong world war 2 fantasy.
